Thea’s Ethnographic Guesthouse: A Heartfelt Celebration of Georgian Heritage in Samegrelo
Located in the enchanting region of Samegrelo, Georgia, Thea’s Ethnographic Guesthouse offers a truly unique experience. Run by Thea and Sergi, a couple who returned to Georgia after 12 years in Germany, this family-owned retreat is dedicated to sharing the warmth and richness of Georgian culture with visitors from all over the world.
Thea and Sergi have created something special by collecting century-old traditional houses, known as “Odas,” from various corners of Georgia. These historic homes, including one from Sergi’s great-grandfather, have been lovingly restored and now grace their guesthouse courtyard. The blend of historic charm and modern comfort provides guests with an authentic and inviting stay.
Yet, Thea’s Guesthouse is more than just a place to rest. Thea and Sergi are passionate about supporting local produce and promoting a healthy lifestyle. They grow cranberries, hazelnuts, and tea and even make their own wine. Guests can savour local dishes prepared with their homemade ingredients for breakfast and dinner, making each meal a delightful experience. With their extensive tourism backgrounds—especially Thea’s experience as a guide—Thea and Sergi ensure that every guest feels like part of the family and enjoys a truly memorable visit.
