The street has a rich history that dates back two centuries, and it was founded at the beginning of the 19th century by Colonel Banov. The house is situated in an area that is home to the former main division of monuments protection (early 20th century) and residential houses dating back to the late 19th and early 20th centuries. One of the most fascinating aspects of this house is its connection to the most renowned love story in Georgia. The legend involves French singer Margarita and the celebrated Georgian painter Niko Firosmani. Their love affair lasted for a year, and despite Margarita leaving a farewell note to Niko and disappearing without a trace, every Georgian knows the magical part of this love story. According to the legend, Niko sold his shop and sent a cart filled with a million roses to Margarita’s hotel with the money he earned. Alternatively, it is said that Niko bought all the flowers in Tbilisi that day, not just roses, and hired a porter to lay the flowers on the street where Margarita lived. The house was an inn where Margarita stayed, which was strewn with countless flowers. Inside the house, you will find a cosy apartment with two single beds, an equipped kitchen, and a bathroom.
