OUR HISTORY
The house was built in 1939 and was once home to a Japanese Colonel during World War II. After the Americans took control, it became the headquarters of the fifth American Division, where two Generals resided. During General Rapp Brush’s tenure, General Douglas MacArthur visited for a meeting and a simple ceremony in the garden, where he was awarded a medal. General MacArthur (26 January 1880 – 5 April 1964) was an important American military leader, serving as General of the Army for the United States and a field marshal for the Philippine Army. He played a significant role in the Pacific theater during World War II and was awarded the Medal of Honor for his service in the Philippines campaign.

THE ARCHITECTURAL DETAILS
This home can be described as having been influenced by pre-war American Style Chalet, while still retaining some Castilian features like the “ventanillas” for air circulation. The living quarters are on the upper floor, while the ground level housed the helpers’ quarters, storage rooms, garage, and a rainwater cistern, typical of the period. Notably, the house boasts FORTY doors!
