WELCOME TO THE FRAMING FAMILY ROOM!
Photohostel is located in the renovated 200-year-old Taiyuan building. Photohostel’s charm lies in its style and architecture – a blend of history and innovation. The property is a unique old house built by the family Tan. The family Tan are Hokkien people and built the house around 200 years ago as their private home close to the Chao Phraya River.
It is located in the heart of Bangkok’s Talat Noi, a historic Chinatown area known for its old buildings, metal workers, and festivals. Just a walking distance to MRT Hua Lampong and the boat pier, making it convenient for travelers. The hostel’s rooms have private bathrooms and there is the option of double rooms and family rooms which can accommodate up to 4 people. There is also a common room with a washing machine and dryer.
Connected to the Photohostel is the Photocafe which serves many types of coffee, smoothies, milkshakes, and soda drinks. As well as sandwiches pizza, desserts, and the best ice cream. It’s a great spot for remote workers or for co-meetings, and you can even rent a beautiful old original 200-year-old office for meetings. The tasteful design, connection to the past, and friendly welcome make it a favorite with tourists, locals, and filmmakers!
Architectural Details
The Chinese house has a courtyard in the middle of the house. The left and right wings are used as a living room, and in the middle sits a two-story president’s house, made of wood. The roof structure is a round log placed to support the weight of the clay tile roof in Southern Chinese tradition. Because the house is more than 200 years old, there were two collapses of the building structure. However, the new owner places great importance on preserving this Taiyuan building protecting this beautiful property and making it accessible to a new generation.
