Originn Space – located in Taipei’s vibrant Daodacheng neighbourhood – is a small boutique hotel in a century-old faux baroque-style mansion. The hotel boasts a pleasant coffee shop on the ground floor, where small cultural events are also regularly organised.
There are only 5 rooms, each decorated in different ways and with their own unique vintage furniture. All rooms are thoughtfully curated with a selection of books and music, providing a perfect haven for relaxation and rest after exploring the vibrant streets surrounding the property.
The story of the owner is one of real persistence. Before Originn Space, no one had yet opened a hotel in a historic building in Taipei, leaving the authorities unsure how to handle his application for a license. Individuals in the Cultural Department applauded his efforts, but the Tourism Department initially expressed concerns about fire safety and parking, casting doubt on the possibility of granting a license. This resulted in a three-year process instead of the usual three months.
Today, the Originn Space is full operational and in high demand, often being booked out weeks in advance. We believe Originn Space presents a great opportunity to discover the Taipei from before.
