The apartment has a cozy loft-style sleeping area and large floor to ceiling windows overlooking a quiet street just a stone’s throw away from Yangon’s largest wet market and is walking distance to Junction City – the newest shopping center and office block in town. In the afternoon, the apartment enjoys nice sunlight, beaming through the colored windows, giving the place a very warm feel and inviting the occupants to grab a book while sipping a cup of tea. OUR NEIGHBOURHOOD
Pabedan township is the beating heart of downtown and epitomizes the multiculturalism of Yangon with landmark mosques, Tamil temples and of course the glimmering Sule Pagoda. This cultural mix is supplemented by a thriving commercial landscape including everything from small, one item shops all the way to some of the newest malls and the famous Bogyoke Market. The area has many beautiful heritage buildings and hosts the largest wet food market in downtown with fresh produce sourced from all over the country thanks to an active diaspora of traders coming from all the corners of southeast Asia. Many streets are specialized in one specific trade, such as sandals, lighting and plumbing equipemnt, and so on – all interspersed with vibrant tea shops, spice shops, jewelers, etc. Throughout the day, peddlers move through the streets of Pabedan selling fresh coconuts, flowers, snacks and collecting specific garbage for recycling.  Pabedan is the township that will show you all the beautiful diversity and vibrant life of Yangon and make you fall in love with it.

OUR HISTORY
Ma Myint Myint Moe initially rented out the apartment to a tenant who turned the apartment into a hostel, cramming multiple people into the 60 sqm flat. The management of the property was a real headache for her and the neighbours often complained about the noise caused by the numerous occupants. Ma Myint Myint Moe heard about Doh Eain’s reputation and our vision to preserve the old buildings of Yangon and decided to collaborate to turn the apartment into the cozy place it is now. She now does not need to worry about the neighbours’ complaints and she enjoys the extra income, headache free. By working with Doh Eain, she has also helped to secure the future of the building itself as the landowner would have preferred to see it falling into disrepair so that it could be knocked down and replaced by a modern soulless tower.”
