Located in Abanotubani, at the intersection of Abano Street and Botanical Ascent, this House was probably built in the middle of the 19th Century. Various types of artisans used to live in this area – dyers, goldsmiths, cotton weavers, weavers, and others.
This amazing neighborhood, including this house, at one point, was on the brink of destruction. At the end of the 1960s Abano Street was rebuilt and by the government’s decision the houses located here were given to prominent artists. Azerbaijani poet and translator Imir Mamedli, born and raised in Georgia, settled in this house. He is famous for one of the best translations of The Tiger Skinner (originally in the Azerbaijani language). In 2003, his family moved to Baku and since then it has been owned by a Georgian family.
