Tian Tian Hostel: Bridging Past and Present in Bangkok’s Chinatown
Located in the heart of Bangkok’s Chinatown, Tian Tian Hostel welcomes you with its charming allure filled with Chinese traditional influences. This heritage building has been passed down through generations and is currently owned and run by Pat, the 3rd generation custodian of the Tian Tian Hostel.
The building itself boasts over 80 years of history, a narrative intertwined with the fascinating tale of Pat’s grandparents. They journeyed from Mainland China over eight decades ago, laying the foundation for their business – a printing company that found its home in this very building.
Driven by a deep sense of heritage, Pat ensured the preservation of the original structure during the renovation, a testament to her commitment to the past. She then embarked on her journey as a hostel owner in 2018.
Today, she manages the hostel independently, infusing it with the charm of history and a personal touch. With its location in the Chinatown neighbourhood, Tian Tian Hostel is just a 5-minute walk from MRT Wat Mangkorn and a stone’s throw away from the tantalising offerings of Chinatown street food. This makes it an ideal base for exploring the rich cultural tapestry of Chinatown and immersing yourself in its vibrant atmosphere.
